Why the pallet deserves its own attention
Argan oil bottles are often glass, and cartons only bear so much vertical load. The shipment is lifted, set down and moved several times, so any stacking flaw compounds at each step. Choosing the right pallet
Size
Common formats are the Euro pallet (120×80 cm) and the standard pallet (roughly 120×100 cm). The best choice depends on carton dimensions, destination and loading method. Ask the factory for a stacking plan on both sizes before you decide.
Wood and treatment
Wooden pallets used in international trade generally fall under ISPM 15, the standard for treating and marking wood packaging. Check the destination country's requirements: an unmarked pallet can be held or returned. If your importer prefers plastic pallets, tell the factory early.
Condition
The pallet should be dry, free of protruding nails and broken boards, and free of strong odors, since moisture and smells transfer to cartons.
Stacking rules that protect the bottles
- No carton overhangs the pallet edge. Overhang noticeably reduces compression strength.
- A consistent stacking pattern, column or interlocked depending on the carton, matching what was agreed.
- A limited number of layers, set by carton strength rather than available space.
- A flat top to prevent sliding.
- Corner protectors on all four edges before wrapping.
Wrapping and securing
The pallet is stretch-wrapped from the base, anchoring the film to the pallet first and then spiraling up with overlap. Plastic straps can be added with corner guards so they do not cut into the cartons. The goal is a single stable block that does not shift under braking or lifting, not one that crushes the cartons.
Weight and distribution
Maximum pallet weight varies by carrier, warehouse and handling equipment. Do not assume a figure: ask your forwarder and receiving warehouse, then ask the factory to comply, with the heaviest cartons at the bottom.
