The TDS describes what the supplier promises; the COA proves what your batch actually delivered. One does not replace the other.
What a good technical data sheet contains
- Identification: trade name, INCI name (Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil), botanical source and country of origin.
- Grade: cosmetic or culinary, virgin or deodorised.
- Sensory description: colour, odour and texture within an acceptable range.
- Physico-chemical properties: acid value, peroxide value, density, refractive index.
- Fatty acid profile: ranges, not a single rigid figure.
- Microbiology: if your market or finished product requires it.
- Storage and shelf life: temperature, protection from light and air, and the date shelf life is counted from.
- Packaging options: available sizes and containers.
- Ingredient and allergen statement: a single ingredient with no additives, plus a clear tree-nut statement where relevant.

Reading the numbers: the range matters more than the value
Argan oil is an agricultural product, and harvest, extraction and storage all affect its properties. An honest TDS therefore gives ranges. When reading one, check:
- The test method named for each measurement.
- Maximum limits for acid and peroxide values, since they define when you reject a batch.

The safety data sheet
A GHS-aligned SDS follows a sixteen-section format.
